How effective are the SDGs, MDGs and other UN goal setting exercises?

This graphic based on analysis done by PwC suggests that potential customers are favorably impressed by companies that have signed on to the SDGs. My reaction to this conclusion is that this may well be true for customers that have heard about the MDGs, SDGs, etc, but that the majority of customers completely ignore this dimension of reputation in all of their buying decisions.
