STREAMS / STRANDS / STRINGS
For a global complex interconnected socio-enviro-economic system, it is more convenient to think in terms of STREAMS or STRANDS or STRINGS which flow through many different parts of the system and in the process contribute to progress and maintenance of the system or not.
The Socio-Enviro-Economic System (SEES) is complex and linked together by the PRODUCTS that flow through the system through a chain of PROCESSES run by ORGANIZATIONS in a variety of PLACES and used by PEOPLE to maontain and improve their QUALITY OF LIFE.
The purpose of TVIA is to provide a framework of metrics that makes it possible to have coherent compehensive measures for progress and performance for ALL of these STREAMS. STRANDS, STRINGS, FLOWS or CHAINS.
PROCESS
PROCESS is at the core of every NODE in the Socio-Envire-Economic System and therefore a critical element in determing the efficiency of the system

Without FOOD, people die. AGRICULTURE is the primary source of FOOD, and therefore vital to the performance of the global socio-enviro-economic system. AGRICULTURE also occupies the largest proportion of LAND, and is associated with the conversion of LAND from natural bio-services to food production.
Agriculture is a key driver of prosperity. Agriculture in the “north” has high yields while in the “south”, too much of agriculture remains little better than subsistence farming with very low yields

Hugely profitable, but services essential to the “south” are not available because the profits not big enough.
BANKING
BANKING is a STRAND in the modern socio-enviro-economic system. There is a widely held belief that the banking sector creates wealth, but this is not real. The banking sector merely consolidates wealth created in other sectors and enables the concentration of wealth by those who are in positions of power and influence.
BANKING is a lubricant for the functioning of the socio-enviro-economic, but neither the engine for the system nor the fuel!
