The fact of unsustainability
In the recent past, there has been a lot of talk about 'sustainability', but this is a polite way of avoiding the uncomfortable fact that our modern materialistic world has become dangerously unsustainable. Scientists / economists have calculated that if everyone in the world lived like people in North America ... arguably the most economically successful part of the world ... it would require five times the amount of resources than are available on our one and only planet earth.
