Money, Banking and Financial Services
Small customers fighting back

The appalling behavior of the 'too big to fail' banks remains an issue. Change.org petitions help

There is a wide appreciation that there has been appalling behavior of the 'too big to fail' banks, but it is very difficult to have any impact. The big banks have enormous social and economic power and little or no meaningful connection between the internal business processes and the human beings that are the clients and the ultimate source of their profits. These two videas are about ordinary people trying to get a fair deal with the help of Change.org

A change.org petition helped the father of a soldier in Iraq keep his house away from foreclosure. It would be good to know a little more about which bank responded nicely to the appeal.

The banking industry and foreclosures

On August 9, 2011, Vera Johnson delivered her Change.org petition with more than 10,000 signatures to Bank of America in Seattle. Her goal was to show bank officials she had community support for a loan modification to save her nursery, where she both lives and works. As you can see, Bank of America officials were not pleased to see a video camera.

Presumeably this Bank of America branch was part of the Washinton Mutual network that was absorbed into B of A during the save the banks bailout.
