COMMENTARY
One of the important elements of quality of life is entertainment, and sport is part of that industry. Sport is an example of how something that has very little of intrinsic tangible value has a sustainable economic life, is able to mobilize large financial resources and is appreciated by the populace.

The value chains in sport need to be better understood by the general public because, while there is clearly something very good about sport, it is becoming apparent that there may be serious 'bubbles' developing around the industry. This needs further exploration and fact collection.
