COMMENTARY
Accounting ... accountancy ... is the core of modern corporate management information and control, but its power is not well understood. My goal is for some of the key ideas of accountancy to be incorporated in a system of metrics that includes not only money but also value flows. One of the constraints is that modern accountants are not trained very well to think 'outsider the box'.

Accounting 360 surveyed hundreds of finance professionals about their thoughts on the financial industry today and what they believe is in store for the future.

This infographic depicts the facts about people’s workload, pet peeves, common worries, and other office concerns and expectations. It also explores what these professionals expect for 2012 in terms of expanding and seeing a change in income. Overall, those surveyed are happy in their positions and feel improvements lie ahead.
