Friend Me, Follow Me or Google Me?
The exchange of information used to be as easy as handing out a business card or phone number. Now it's a bewildering exchange. We have to decide where to send people we meet online. Do they Friend us...

Clare Cosgrove - If you handed out your business card it's normally because you WANT someone to contact you..on Facebook you want people to be in AWE of you and write lovely things on your wall on Twitter.....honestly haven't fathomed that one at all and G+ it's a good place to add the world!! But difficult to get noticed if you are not already 'SOMEONE' and I am not...so I am stalking the likes of you and others I never would have added anyone I have added on G+ on Facebook or even liked their page...What am I talking about? ....I have no idea!!

Peter Burgess - +Clare Cosgrove Thank you Clare for describing the modern info environment ... it is a very powerful very confusing place and really very ineffective +Nick Bilton There used to be a time when one could write a letter. mail it, and get a reply from the correspondent ... a two way communication. Now it is almost all outward and getting a reply from anyone in the modern electronic world is usually pretty meaningless. The potential of electronic communication for effectiveness seems to be being pushed forward only for military applications (... a physically destructive purpose ... ) and for crass commercial applications (... making money from private information ...). I would have thought society could use the power of modern technology to address the very big issues in modern society such as 7 billion people heading full speed over an unsustainable economic cliff, 4 billion people already poor, hungry and totally disenfranchised, fund flows that seem to go on in secret and all sorts of corruption in both the private sector and in the public sector. I would have thought we could do better, but modern capitalist market economy taught for decades as the optimum economic system seems incapable of getting close to a planet worth living in ... but amazing technology and the 99% working towards a value market economy and thinking valueadd rather than just profit could change everything. To borrow from +Clare Cosgrove 'What am I talking about? ....I have no idea!' But what I am talking about is possible with amazing modern technology.
