In the last 50 years, the accountancy profession has lost much of its social purpose and become just another way to make a good living, largely through services that improve corporate performance, or personal tax efficiency without much, if any, consideration of the broader social impact.

Money profit metrics, stock prices and GDP growth dominate the conversation about the economy. Something very much better is needed. Money profit accountancy is at the core of management information in the organization. Something similar based on value flows is needed for people, place and planet.
