GRESB Team
A thought leader connecting real estate finance with environmental economics, Nils co-founded GRESB in 2009 and as its CEO remains actively involved in developing GRESB’s sustainability-related information products for the financial market. Nils also has an appointment as an Associate Professor in Finance at Maastricht University, focusing his research on real estate investments, including the financial implications of energy efficiency and sustainability in commercial and residential buildings (see www.nilskok.com )
Based in Washington DC, Chris is responsible for developing GRESB’s overall business strategy, including the development of innovative products and services. Chris is also leading the development of the Green Building Information Gateway (www.gbig.org). Previously, Chris worked for CTG Energetics, Inc. and the US EPA. He holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Geography from the University of California Santa Barbara and a B.S. from the College of William and Mary.
An experienced executive with an established record in the real asset sector, Lonneke oversees business operations for GRESB and manages the growing Amsterdam office as the Head of Operations. Before joining GRESB, she organized the launch of the Global Infrastructure Investor Association (GIIA), a lobbying organization for the infrastructure asset class. Prior to GIIA, she was the director of professional standards at INREV, the European Association for Investors in Non-Listed Real Estate Vehicles. Lonneke holds a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Technology Delft in the Netherlands and a Master of Science in European Property Development and Planning from the University College London.
Responsible for developing and managing the content of the annual GRESB Survey and GRESB’s other products and services. Elsbeth previously worked for Jones Lang LaSalle for over 5 years, where she was Head of Sustainability and responsible for advising blue-chip investors, investment managers and tenants regarding a wide range of sustainability issues, including green leases. She holds a Master's degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Delft.
Sander Paul is Head of Europe and co-founder of GRESB. He previously worked at APG Asset Management as Head of Sustainability Real Estate and Infrastructure. Sander Paul co-founded and served on EPRA’s Sustainability Reporting Committee and INREV’s Sustainability Committee and was actively involved in UN PRI’s Property Advisory Group and IIGCC’s Property Working Group. He holds a Master’s degree in Business Economics as well as an Executive Master degree of Finance and Control from the University of Amsterdam and a Master of Studies in Real Estate from the Amsterdam School of Real Estate.
Based in Singapore, Ruben is representative of GRESB in Asia Pacific. He previously worked for Jones Lang LaSalle, where he was Head of Research and responsible for Strategic Consultancy. Ruben holds a Master’s degree in Building Engineering and a post doctorate Master’s degree in Science in Real Estate. He is Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) and has obtained the LEED Green Associate credential.
Dan is Head of North America for GRESB, responsible for investor engagement and new product deployment across GRESB's multiple platforms. He previously served USGBC as Senior Fellow for Business Strategy and Finance, and has extensive professional experience with institutional real estate investment including tenures at Russell Real Estate and CBRE. He holds a Masters in real estate finance and development from Harvard, an MBA from SMU Cox School of Business, and B.S. from the University of Wisconsin. He is a Counselor of Real Estate and lecturer at the University of Maryland’s Colvin Institute of Real Estate.
Roxana works on the content and management of GRESB's benchmark and assists Survey participants throughout the entire GRESB process. She is also responsible for developing and implementing benchmark related services focused on data quality. Roxana has a Masters in Corporate Finance and Banking from Duisenberg School of Finance.
Ulrich is responsible for the development of GRESB's products and IT infrastructure and co-develops the GRESB scoring algorithm. Prior to joining GRESB, Ulrich worked for Commerzbank and co-founded the Maastricht University Green Office and a sustainability consultancy, Rootability. Ulrich has a Bachelor's degree in Infonomics and a Masters in SME Management.
Rumyana is responsible for strategic communications, including Media Relations and Events. Previously Rumyana worked as a marketing communications specialist with Wolters Kluwer and Thomson Reuters in the Netherlands, and as a journalist for NBC in the United States. Rumyana has an MBA from University of Amsterdam and Bachelor in Journalism from Columbia College in Chicago.
Luc is responsible for the annual benchmark data analysis, preparing output materials, including the benchmark report, validation and IT support. He completed his Master’s degree in Real Estate Management and Development and has a Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering, both from University of Technology Eindhoven.
Emke Bus is responsible for the management and implementation of GRESB Infrastructure, including business, product and market development, as well as the GRESB Infrastructure platform. Emke brings extensive experience in infrastructure investments - with over 9 years of experience, she was among the earliest investors in this asset class. Emke previously worked as a portfolio manager for infrastructure and private equity investments for Syntrus Achmea and as a relationship manager for Dexia Asset Management. Emke holds a Master of Science in Business Administration from Erasmus University in the Netherlands. She is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst.
Carolyn Lamontagne works on the content and management of the GRESB Infrastructure and Real Estate assessments. Previously Carolyn worked as an associate analyst for Sustainalytics for 5 years in the Netherlands, and as an alternative investments research associate for Fund Evaluation Group in the United States. Carolyn has a Masters in International Development from the University of Birmingham and a Bachelors in Economics from the University of Waterloo.
Ragnar works on the design and user interface aspects of the GRESB portal and designs the annual GRESB report and other marketing materials. He holds a Bachelor’s in International Business from Maastricht University and currently pursues a Master’s degree at Copenhagen Business School. Before joining GRESB he worked at Maastricht University Green Office, co-founded sustainability consultancy rootAbility and supported the European solar project xGWp as an assistant.
Rik is an Analyst and works on the implementation and development of the GRESB Real Estate and Infrastructure Assessments. Before joining the GRESB team, Rik worked as a trainee for the Dutch Association of Investors for Sustainable Development (VBDO) and completed an internship at the Dutch Development Bank FMO as part of the Sustainability Team. Rik holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from Peking University and in International Development from SciencesPo Paris. Prior to this he completed the Bachelor’s degree in Human Geography and Planning at Utrecht University.
Andrea is an Analyst focused on investor and fund manager engagement for the GRESB Real Estate and Debt Assessments. Prior to joining GRESB, Andrea spent two years as an analyst at LaSalle Investment Management’s Global Client Capital Group, where she was responsible for capital raising and due diligence on behalf of institutional investors and consultants. Before LaSalle, Andrea was a Strategic Account Specialist at Waste Management focused on new business acquisition. Andrea holds a Bachelor's degree in Marketing from Aurora University, and is licensed under FINRA as a General Securities Registered Representative.
Berna is the Executive Assistant responsible for administration to GRESB’s CEO and COO, as well as for office management related tasks. Previously, Berna worked as management assistant for several board members at APG Asset Management. Berna has a Bachelor’s degree in International Hospitality Management from Stenden University.
Martins works on the implementation of the GRESB Debt Assessment and activities related to green bonds. Prior to joining GRESB, he worked on coordinating sustainable projects for student organization oikos Konstanz, Germany. Martins successfully finished his pre-master courses in International Business at Maastricht University and also holds Bachelor's in Law from University of Latvia. He currently pursues MSc in Sustainable Finance, at Maastricht University.
Sophie is a Junior Analyst. She works on the implementation and management of the GRESB Real Estate Assessment, provides support to Assessment participants and is involved in research related to green building certifications. Sophie holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Sustainable Development from Curtin University in Perth, Australia. She currently pursues an MBA in International Trade, at Ipag Business School France.
Sacha is a Junior Analyst. She works on the implementation of the GRESB Real Estate Assessment and on digital communications and social media. Before joining GRESB, Sacha was the Press, Public Diplomacy, and Cultural Affairs officer at the Netherlands Consulate in Miami. Sacha holds a Master of Science in Sustainable Development from Utrecht University and a Bachelor in Political Science and Anthropology with a focus in Environmental Sciences and Sustainability from the University of Florida.
Felix is a Junior Analyst at GRESB. Felix assists with the annual benchmark data analysis, preparing output materials, including the benchmark report and validation. Before joining the GRESB team, Felix completed an internship at Fundación Dondé Banco as part of the product development team. At university, Felix founded the Quantiative Finance Association Maastricht, did voluntary work for The Market Mogul, publishing articles related to sustainability and finance, and worked for Maastricht University’s Green Office on the publication of the Sustainability Progress Report 2014. He currently pursues an B.S. in Econometrics and Operations Research, at Maastricht University.
