Assurance is a critical support activity that increases confidence in corporate reporting. As companies integrate new types of non-financial information into their annual reports, approaches to assurance will need to adapt. In this program, we'll get an introduction into how accounting firms have begun to take on this challenge, what's happening now and the possible future paths for assurance of integrated reports.

Kristen B. Sullivan, Partner, Deloitte & Touche LLP
Kristen B. Sullivan is a partner and leads Deloitte & Touche LLP and Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited’s (DTTL) Sustainability and KPI services, working with clients to help address their sustainability and non-financial disclosure needs. Kristen also serves as the DTTL Americas Region Sustainability Services Leader. Kristen brings extensive experience in sustainability risk assessment, reporting and assurance.
Kristen serves as a member of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) North America Advisory Council, the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) Assurance Task Force, the Sustainable Stock Exchange (SSE) Initiative Corporate Working Group, and serves as Chair of the AICPA Sustainability Task Force and member of the AICPA Materiality Task Force. She also served on the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC) Working Group. Kristen has authored a number of publications around the value of sustainability and non-financial disclosure and assurance, including conflict minerals and anti-human trafficking disclosure.

John DeRose Executive Director, Climate Change and Sustainability Services, Ernst & Young LLP
John DeRose serves as Sustainability Practice Leader for Non-financial Reporting and Advisory and Assurance Services. He is also the Practice Leader for the Western US region. John is a CPA and has experience leading engagements and working with those responsible for financial and non-financial reporting including: operations, compliance, sustainability, general counsel, investor relations, supply chain, internal audit, and their operating teams to develop leading edge sustainaiblity programs and reporting processes.
John has helped develop and apply international standards, frameworks and third-party certification programs and has worked with B Corporation, CSA America and Sustainability Accounting Standards Board. John previously served as a member of the AICPA Accounting Standards Board Sustainability Task Force and the member of Society of Corporate Governance's Environmental and Social Working Group.

Desiré Carroll Senior Manager American Institute of CPAs (AICPA)
Desiré Carroll is a Senior Manager at the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) where she serves as the staff liaison to the ASEC Sustainability Assurance and Advisory Task Force. She also served as the staff liaison to the ASB Sustainability Task Force that developed the AICPA’s Sustainability Attestation Guide which was published in 2017. Prior to joining the AICPA in May 2012, Desiré was a Senior Manager at Deloitte in the M&A Transaction Services group. Desiré is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a South African Chartered Accountant CA(SA).
