PUTIN'S PLAN B Fareed Zakaria: We must stop Putin's Plan B Original article: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lX4NZpqybA8 Burgess COMMENTARY I have difficulty imagining what it must have been like in recent days and weeks in Mariupol in the South of Ukraine ... and yet the brave Ukrainians are still standing. The free West needs to do everything possible to make it possible for Ukraine to win over Russia, and especially the dictator Putin ... including taking some risks of escallation, and being prepared to handle escallation it is, in fact, happens. Perhaps the most important thing to do soon is to address the money flows into Russia as a result of the West ... essentially Europe paying Russia billions of dollars every day for energy (gas and oil). So far, Saudi Arabia seems to be on the side-lines. As far as I am concerned it should be very made very clear to the leadership in Saudi Arabia that they have some important decisions to make related to their role in mitigating the negative consequences of the current crisis. That also goes for some powerful business leaders who are already taking advantage of the economic disruption associated not only with the situation arsing from the Russian aggression in Ukraine but also before this, the economic disruption caused by the Covid pandemic. I learned economics in the late 1950s and specifically the steps that were taken in the UK during WWII to limit business profiteering because of war shortages. Nothing like that happened in the USA in WWII but it should be happening NOW so that everyone takes some of the hit that is going to happen.
