The nearest I got the the military was my involvement with my school CCF ... Combined Cadet Forse ... and activities with the ROTC (Royal Office Training Corp) while I was at university. As an engineering student I was aware that the military has a history of developing and deploying new technology very rapidly especially at time of war and when international tensions are high. I remember getting to crawl all over Centurian tanks and other military equipment. There was one awful incident where an improperly parked tank rolled down a hill during the night and into the cadet encampment killing several cadets while they were asleep. It was a reminder that this is heavy equipment, and not to be messed with. I am not sure at the moment whether this particular artillery piece is being suplied to Ukraine. Certainly there is going to be a substantial increase in artillery firepower on the Ukrainian side over the next few days and weeks. Hopefully it will be helpful in pushing the Russian military completely out of Ukraine ... first the Donbast and then Crimea ....... Peter Burgess | ||

The heart of the system is a fully automated 155 mm/L52 gun howitzer and a M151 Protector remote controlled weapon station mounted on a modified 6×6 chassis of the Volvo A30D, all-terrain articulated hauler. The crew and engine compartment is armoured and the cab is fitted with bullet and fragmentation-proof windows. Aside from this, the system consists of an ammunition resupply vehicle, a support vehicle, BONUS and the M982 Excalibur guided projectile.
