Burgess COMMENTARY
This talk took place about 2 weeks after the outbreak of the Ukraine war. To a great extent it reflects the thinking at that point iin time. This commentary is based on what has happened more than 2 months later ... that is with the benefit of hindsight.

In this talk, there is almost no anticipation that the Ukraine forces would perform well and indeed outperform the Russian forces, not by a small amount, but by a huge amount. I am somewhat suprirsed at what appears to be quite a weak understanding of the Russian Federation and especially its leadership.

Sir Robert John Sawers is a British intelligence officer, diplomat and civil servant. He was Chief of the Secret Intelligence Service MI6, a position he held from November 2009 until November 2014. He was previously the British Permanent Representative to the United Nations from August 2007 to November 2009. Sawers was a key opposition figure against the UK government’s decision not to intervene to a greater degree in Syria during his tenure.
