PLATINUM JUBILEE Charles' Deeply Personal Tribute to 'Mummy' the Queen Original article: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iA88kCGgIi0 Peter Burgess COMMENTARY I have been an avid supporter of Prince Charles since he was a university student ... a long time ago. I had the oppotunity to meet Prince Charles in the late 1970s when I was working as the CEO of a US company operating around the world and especially in West Africa. He was visiting the Cote d'Ivoire and the local British Embassy did not have too many British subjects in the country so our local company manager and myself were invited to a reception for Prince Charles as he paid a short courtesy call to the Cote d'Ivoire before going on to Ghana. I think it is fair to say that Prince Charles has been on the right side of most of the big issues over the past 50 years ... and he has a super sense of humor as well ... as well as pretty good judgement. I am sorry that his marriage to Princess Diana did not go well. It is perfectly explainable. Sadly, they were totally incompatible on almost every level, and this was not helped any by the tablide British press. I never knew Princess Diana, but I lived for a few years in London in my 20s and developed a strong bias against the 'country set' of young women who were in London after their finishing school education in places like Switzerland. Diana was at the top of this heap ... and in many ways incredibly 'shallow'. In contrast, Charles was incredibly thoughtful, and pretty strong willed without being totally objectionable!!!!!!!
