Whether this results in me getting good information that reflects the overall reality is another matter, and the logic suggests that I am probably being 'gamed' in ways that are bad for my deep understanding of what is actually going on. Nevertheless I have concluded that the Ukrainian military is impressive and has the capacity to push the Russian military out of all of the Ukraine provided that they have a decent supply of equipment and munitions for as long as it takes. The Ukrainian military can win. Whether the allies will have the staying power is much less 'for sure'. So far the Western allies have given much more support than might have been expected, but how long this will continue is unknown. I am fairly certain that the Biden administration and the US military are fully committed to what they are currently doing, and maybe a bit more, but all of that is 'up for grabs' if the mid-term elections go really badly for the Democrats and Trump leaning Republicans are energized. Nearly every country around Europe has domestic issues as well ... Bottom line ... however, is that allowing Putin to win is going to be a catastrophic outcome and must be made impossible by whatever means that are necessary. Peter Burgess | ||
