This seeems to be a reasonably solid analysis and presentation.

In the past sanctions have been ineffective in large part because too many big actors in the international arena have gamed the system and avoided the core intent of the sanctions. This has happened a lot less in the case of the sanctions impossed this time in response to the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation.

It is now about 7 months since the first wave of sanctions were imposed on Russia, and it has become fairly clear that there is a substantial bite to these sanctions, and it appears likely that the bite will become more and more serious.

In my view, the effectiveness of the sanctions will peak in about two to three years and then decline as more and more work-arounds are developed both in terms of technology and in terms of plain old sanction-busting at both the country level and the shady business level.
