BACKGROUND
Networks are an important part of humanity, and indeed, in many parts of the natural world. Active management of networks can yield impressive results.
The so called social networks have become 'all the rage' in the few years since widespread access to the Internet has become possible. The popularity of these networks tells us something about human nature. The utility of these networks may be another matter.
Clearly this subject is getting a lot of attention, but it may be that the attention is of the wrong sort. It seems that the power of the social network is seen by many as a way to add more power to the advertising segment of the economy with little of no attention to social purpose.
