African Leadership Project Launching Event....

Hi Ladies & Gents,

A fellow colleague ( Famod Konneh) and I started a non-profit appropriately titled the 'African Leadership Project for Civic Engagement and Economics'. We are hosting our launch event on Saturday, December 10, 2011.

Briefly, the event titled ' 'Emerging African Leaders in the West...Challenges and Prospects' will bring together progressive, emerging African Leaders to talk about what role Africans play in the political, cultural, and economic landscape of the U.S. As well as address the importance of civic engagement, economic power, and coalition building in our communities in efforts to establish power and presence. Additionally, these leaders will speak to what they do individually to bring visibility to Africa's presence here in the U.S. Again, this event will take place on Saturday, December 10, 2011 from 10am-3p.m.

I wanted to solidify some pertinent details ( i.e.securing of the venue, panelist, and sponsorship ) before I assembled a planning committee for the event. So here we are....a little over a month away and I wanted to start touching base with people that I knew could add significant value to the event. I know you all have busy schedules, but I would greatly appreciate it if you would take the time to assist in developing this event with me respective to your experience and skills. This hopefully will be the beginning of how we re-define leadership in the African community ...and the trajectory of that community with reference to acquiring power, cultural & ethnic visibility, and wealth.

I am looking to have a conference call this Sunday, November 13, 2011 in the evening. Please confirm your participation on the planning committee if interested or not. Upon notice of all participants I will email the call information.
