Burgess COMMENTARY
I like to think I have something to offer because of my quite diverse background and experience. Chris Cook also seems to have a diverse background and expoerience, but quite different from my own. Nevertheless, he seems to be talking about reform in a way that resonates with my own thinking, but is both very similar and very different at the same time. Chris Cook has also gained a lot more traction than I have in putting out his ideas to a broader public. I have a lot of catching up to do!

Hi Peter, Chris Cook also commented on Michael Strong's link. Chris wrote: 'Michael Strong This is an interesting thread which is very relevant to my research at UCL's Institute for Security & Resilience Studies and my work generally. I think that we are moving away from institutions as Organisations - whether Public=State or Private=Joint Stock Corporation - and transitioning to institutions as consensual agreements. In Mathematics we have +1, -1 and 0: in Physics we have positive, negative and null/neutral, but in the field of economics, which I see as the Physics of Value, there is (although there used to be) no zero state, and only conflicting absolutes: eg equity vs debt; freehold vs leasehold; public vs private. I believe there are two tools which enable the emergence of a next generation resilient economy without either public or private intermediary organisations coming between citizens. (a) the neutral, reciprocal and consensual framework agreement for the self organisation of ALL stakeholders for which I have coined the word 'Nondominium' (b) the undated credit which precedes the conflicted absolute financial claims of debt and equity - ie 'stock'. https://blogs.ucl.ac.uk/resilience/2012/01/09/a-stock-answer/ These presentations of mine this summer in Kansas City are quite up to date http://www.slideshare.net/ChrisJCook/introduction-flight-to-simplicity http://www.slideshare.net/ChrisJCook/flight-to-simplicity-resolution http://www.slideshare.net/ChrisJCook/flight-to-simplicity-transition It is only by bringing the investors INSIDE the city agreement that you will be able to achieve the outcomes you are looking for.' |
