EXPERIENCE

Founding editor World Streets Editions December 2012 – Present (4 months)Under discussion We are in the process of creating a new series of concise guides aimed directly at informing mayors and local government, each treating a single priority new mobility measure or strategy concerning which they need to have an authoritative easy to access strategic policy guide.

The goal of WSE is to commission and publish authoritative, readable books written by leading international authorities offering new thinking and practical decision guides for government on specific new mobility measures for improving transport, environment, equity and the economy of their cities. The modest objective is to have something so good, so cheap, so easy to get your hands on, that it can be acquired by every city hall on the planet.

Each book in this series will report directly and concisely to mayors, local government, and other key actors charged with making decisions on critical, topical and often poorly understood specific sustainable transport measures . The first round of topics in discussion with contributing authors for 2013 in the Vol. 1 series: Future of the Car in the City; include: Carsharing; Congestion Charges; Parking; Slow Strategies; Car restrictions; and Street Architecture.

New Mobility Consult: 2013 Convenor ... the New Mobility Agenda 1974 – Present (39 years) http://www.newmobility.org Unconstrained by bureaucracy, economic interests or schedules, the Agenda was launched in 1988 as a wide open international platform for critical discussion and diverse forms of cross-border collaboration on the challenging, necessarily conflicted topic of 'sustainable transportation and social justice'. Founder & Director The commons March 1973 – October 2012 (39 years 8 months) The Commons : a first stop shop for concerned citizens, researchers, students, policy makers, entrepreneurs, investors or social activists interested in quickly getting a feel for world sustainability issues, views and developments from an unbiased critical perspective. We invite complex thinking about these complex issues which are loaded with internal contradictions and major divergences of views and priorities. A common thread in all our work and investigations is the potential for using technology positively to break the sustainability impasse that is currently the state of play in most places. The emphasis throughout is in laying the groundwork for action in terms of concrete polices and practices that can advance the sustainability and social justice agenda in your company, city, country, region . . . or in your own life and that of your family. Which after all is where sustainability must start. (Open)1 recommendation
