UPDATE: Currently on a working sabbatical until July 24, 2013.
In Jan, will be a volunteering as a Kiva Fellow for Kiva Zip ( https://zip.kiva.org/ ), a new spin-off of Kiva.Org micro-funding organization. Kiva Zip is currently in pilot stage in Kenya and the US, and hopes to leverages digital peer-to-peer payments to change the way micro-entrepreneurs get funded for their startups.

People often ask me what its really like to move from advertising to telecoms, and I often tell them I'm 25% brand client and 75% brand planner. But really, that's a white lie.
The truth is I don't love either of those titles because what I love most about my work are all the things that hide in the footnotes of most jobs.
I love advertising, information networks, digitization, brands and insights, of course. But I also love semiotics, narratives, measurement and monetization; process reinvention.
Most of all, I love finding stories hidden in the corners of newspapers, or buried in a coal mine of forgotten data. And I love finding new - ocassionally odd - ways of telling and retelling those stories. I sometimes speak and write about what I do, because these engagements allow me to meet and collaborate with brands and people who are interested in the same things.

On a pilot project to expand the footprint of Kiva Zip, a new innovation from Kiva.org that offers 0% interest crowdfunded loans to US small businesses that no banks will lend to.
The US Kiva Zip loan product is intermediated digitally via PayPal instead of physically via a traditional finance institution; and it relies on human trust networks instead of credit scores.
