The Hotel Carbon Measurement Initiative (HCMI) HCMI is groundbreaking initiative to unite hotel industry efforts to calculate and communicate carbon footprints and respond to RFPs. The methodology has been developed in partnership with 23 hotel groups and is already being applied by over 15,000 hotels around the world. There are over 400 ‘green’ schemes around the world. However, HCMI is the only one that has been developed by and for the hotel industry. HotelCO2 is a simple and a affordable tool designed for hotel managers to apply HCMI. The tool requires no prior knowledge of CO2 reporting and can be used by any hotel regardless of type, class and location. You will be able to calculate your hotel's Carbon footprint in hotelier-friendly metrics, specifically: Total Carbon Footprint for Guest Room and meeting space during the specified reporting year, per night per guest. Energy intensity per rooms. Total carbon footprint of a specific client's event. The tool is currently being updated to reflect the changes made in HCMI (version 1.1).
