It also responds to treaty-related inquiries from Congress, academia, members of the public, and officials of foreign governments and international organizations. The treaty office also oversees the Department's compliance with the statutory requirements of 1 U.S.C. 112a and 112b to report international agreements other than treaties to Congress and to publish international agreements. Legal Intern Ways and Means Trade Subcommittee September 2009 – December 2009 (4 months) Researched and wrote on trade issues within the jurisdiction of the Subcommittee on Trade which included the Miscellaneous Tariff Bill, organizations and institutional aspects of international trade agreements, investment treaties and national security aspects of trade policy. Patton Boggs LLPSummer Associate Patton Boggs LLP May 2009 – July 2009 (3 months) Researched and wrote memoranda on legal issues relating to international clients (including extradition cases), tax, trade and securities fraud (e.g. whether transfers made in connection with a Ponzi scheme are subject to a fraudulent transfer attack). Researched and drafted a suggested comprehensive FCPA compliance documentation program for a Fortune 500 company. Office of U.S. Senator Robert P. CaseyLegal Intern Office of U.S. Senator Robert P. Policy Analyst Global Health Initiative 2005 – 2008 (3 years) Families USA’s Global Health Initiative, funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, focuses on how U.S. policy can help address critical global health challenges. Our advocacy efforts will focus on funding for the National Institutes of Health (NIH), specifically, funding that will expand the capacity of the NIH to contribute to global health research. To further the goals of the initiative, our work will encompass other agencies involved in global health research, such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), where appropriate.
