Dear Amitav
Just a short note to put on the record how much I enjoyed your comments last Thursday. As a 'Brit' who has been based in the USA for almost 50 years, and working around the world for much of this time, I love to hear a non-American perspective of the world.
Frankly I am appalled at the widely accepted (in the USA) American view of the world, which is so very different from what I have observed in my own life experience. While I accept that there was a lot wrong with European colonialism, I find the modern corporate colonialism and clumsy American engagement exceedingly dangerous.
In my work around the world, my most important 'take away' has been how many 'nice people' there are on the planet ... and how relatively few greedy people in high places can create mayhem with rather little push back from anyone.
I enjoyed the evening. Thank you.
