Hunter Lovins is a worldwide-recognized leader in helping companies profit from implementing genuine sustainable business practices. She is an international consultant, professor, speaker, and author on ways to use resources more efficiently to enhance business value. Hunter is President of Natural Capitalism Solutions, a non-profit headquartered in Longmont, Colorado that works with companies, communities, and countries. She lectures regularly to audiences ranging from business, government, community groups to universities. Hunter has worked in countries from Afghanistan to New Zealand, most recently asked by the King of Bhutan to be an expert at a conference at the UN on reframing the economy. Governmental clients include the Pentagon, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Energy, Government Services Agency and numerous cities. Over her 30 years as a sustainability thought leader, Hunter has written hundreds of articles and 13 books. The latest, The Way Out: Kickstarting Capitalism to Save Our Economic Ass (2012), is a sequel to her international best-selling book, Natural Capitalism, now in use in hundreds of college courses. She was co-author of the foundational green building book: Green Development: Integrating Real Estate and Ecology. Co-founder and for 20 years CEO of Rocky Mountain Institute, she was instrumental in creating the fields of Economic Renewal, Green Development, and Sustainable Management, Hunter has helped create several MBA programs and currently teaches Sustainable Business at Bainbridge Graduate Institute, the University of Denver, and Bard College. Hunter has won dozens of awards, including the European Sustainability Pioneer award, the Right livelihood Prize (the alternative Nobel) and the 2012 the Rachel Carson Award. Time Magazine recognized her as a Millennium Hero for the Planet, and Newsweek called her the Green Business Icon. Hunter rides rodeo and is a member of the Boulder County Sheriff’s Mounted Search and Rescue Patrol. |
