About The B Team
The B Team is non-profit organization, comprised of well-known leaders from business and civil society who are working together to catalyse a better way of doing business for the well-being of people and planet.
About the Role
Are you a social media and news junkie, with a passion for the environment, global development, human rights and believe business has an important role to play in building a sustainable, inclusive future? Do you know how to write attention-grabbing messages that inspire people to action? Are you a self-starter who still likes to work on a highly-collaborative team?
The B Team is looking for a new Associate to join our small, high-impact Communications team in New York City. We are an action-oriented organization with communications and advocacy at our core.
The new associate will be on the frontlines, helping to execute strategic communications, advocacy and stakeholder engagement campaigns on behalf of a growing movement of progressive leaders who are committed to creating more inclusive economies, fighting climate change, protecting the environment, fighting corruption and safeguarding human rights.
You write clearly and without jargon, and are an outstanding verbal communicator. You are detail oriented, but can see the big picture and focus on highest impact activities. You are patient, level-headed and calm under pressure. You are good at taking direction – and equally good at “managing up.” You think on your feet, and are adept at learning new topics on the fly. You have three years of experience.
You must excel at:
Managing engaged online communities across multiple social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn)
Producing original and engaging social media content & messages, including visuals
Developing strategies for social media influence campaigns across various topics
Crafting compelling copy to appeal to different target audiences, through a range of online channels (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, website articles, community newsletters)
Working effectively with a network of social media managers at partner organizations
Tracking/monitoring and evaluating social media reach and other communications metrics
Growing social media audience, reach and influence with strategic audiences
Website management, from day-to-day administration, to producing regular, compelling content updates
A bonus if you also:
Have experience pitching stories to traditional media outlets/reporters
Write long-form blogs and other engaging content
Have worked in a communications or journalist role on topics including: climate change, biodiversity, human rights, sustainable development, corporate social responsibility, social enterprise, good governance or philanthropy
Have experience managing production of outstanding communications assets in digital, print and/or video formats
Can pull together an engaging PowerPoint presentation.
Have an eye for design and can use tools such as Photoshop and InDesign to produce visuals and manage brand assets
Have a grasp of basic HTML/CSS and experience with WordPress CMS, Mailchimp, and Google Analytics
Have language skills other than English
