Burgess COMMENTARY
While these trends are OK, the absolute number of people hungry, in poverty, uneducated, etc is still an unacceptably high number ... and deterioration of social structures (evidenced in part by the number of people migrating as refugees or IDPs) and the degradation of the environment have now become very serious issues. ... Good to see this, Ryan Bethencourt. Now all we have to do is to make sure that we can feed the rapid growing world population as a result of people having better healthcare and less poverty.
A transition from meat to plantbased protein is needed as the world population is growing rapidly till about 10-11 billlion people (2050) on this planet. Those people are expected to eat about 50-60% more meat than nowadays as a result of more wellfare in countries like China and India.
More wellfare is a great thing I believe but we can not can not continue eating meat in the same way as nowadays. Allready about 1/3 of all available land in the world is used for agriculture. Where are we going to find the extra land that is needed?
We won’t. And.... There is only 1 planet Earth.
But the good news is we do not need to. There is so many good alternatives to get our protein. And if you still can’t miss the meat try nowadays meatalternatives
