New America NYC ... The Brink ... A Social Cinema Screening

“The permission to hate seems to be what Steve Bannon offers voters.” - Paul Lewis, The Guardian

Following the Muslim ban and the right-wing Charlottesville riots of August 2017, Steve Bannon, often regarded as the mastermind behind President Trump's election campaign, was pushed out of the White House, and found himself fired from his own radio show and ousted as Executive Chairman of Breitbart Media. Turning his sights on Europe, Bannon set out last summer to apply Trump's polarizing strategies to unify far-right politicians abroad and lay the groundwork for a vast populist and nationalist uprising he calls 'The Movement.'

After its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, Alison Klayman and Marie Therese Guirgis' new documentary The Brink takes viewers on the road with Bannon as he drums up support in small-town America and on to Europe, with fly-on-the-wall access to private meetings and dinners with many of Europe's most vocal and controversial figures. He assures these politicians and operatives, including Nigel Farage, Matteo Salvini, Filip Dewinter, and Kent Ekeroth, that the mainstream media will spread the ideology and fan the outrage. 'Trump taught me a great lesson: there's no bad media.'

On March 14th join New America NYC at Betaworks Studios for a special preview screening of The Brink followed by a conversation that looks at the impact of Bannon's determined efforts in the US and abroad and considers the role of journalists and the media in the 2020 Presidential election.
