Remembering Jennifer Davis on this Day of Reconciliation Inbox x Donna Katzin mail@networkforgood.com via sendgrid.net 12:05 PM (1 hour ago) to me Image Today is the Day of Reconciliation in South Africa – a day dedicated to celebrating the coming together of constituencies divided by a history of racial and economic exploitation and oppression to build a new nation -- imagine if we had a day like that in the U.S.! It is also a day to remember and celebrate the life of Shared Interest’s former board member Jennifer Davis, a giant in the anti-apartheid movement and beyond, whose leadership did so much to bring South Africans to the negotiating table, and lay foundations for building a more just new society. She then taught us that the process of reconciliation was next step on the path to building a more just society. Since her passing on October 15th, Jennifer and her work have been heralded in the New York Times and Washington Post, and by the South African Broadcasting Company (SABC) on television and on SAFM radio. Here she speaks with Ruben Mbuyisa, the recent owner of Mutha Farms in KwaZulu-Natal, and Shared Interest beneficiary. https://www.sharedinterest.org/jennifer-davis-fund-for-the-futureDuring this season of giving, we invite you to make a tax-deductible contribution to the Jennifer Davis Fund for the Future, which we have established in Jennifer’s memory. The Fund will expand Shared Interest’s new work on the ground in Southern Africa with communities, associations and cooperatives – prioritizing women. Thank you for helping us continue to honor Jennifer, and to keep her work moving forward for years to come. Please click here for more information about the Fund or Jennifer Davis.
