Climate Crisis

How should the costs of the climate crisis be funded? Maybe this should be paid for by those who have earned profits over the past several decades!

Burgess COMMENTARY
Political and business leadership during the past several decades must be held to account. A good start would be to tax past corporate profits and associated wealth accumulation and put the money into a fund for climate crisis damage mitigation along the lines of the Tobacco Settlement in the 1990s! Making our children and grandchildren pay is wrong, but that seems to be the current plan. #TVM

Does this bring it home just how severe this is and why we should all be lobbying our politicians at all levels to take action to bring about the reduction of CO2 and greenhouse gases into the environment? #ClimateChangeIsReal this is the effects of climate breakdown and shows we are in a global #climateemergency. ACT NOW and contact your local politicians and see what the #UK #government are doing to bring real change (Spoiler, the current UK govt are doing very little, as described by their own Climate Change Committee)

It is estimated 99% of the Irish forests and woodlands were destroyed by invading forces, deliberately, as a weapon to conquer the Irish. As with so many wars on people through destruction of native plants, the destruction continues long after the war officially ended. In Australia, we appreciate the support of our international peers; the demonstrations, political and public condemnation on the Australian government with their lack of climate action. Seeing those photos of traumatised animals and people is very diifficult for me, its as if they are sacrificial lambs (to the slaugter) that could have been mitigated - on so many levels. This is why I have become so vocal on LinkedIn - least Australian politicians, indeed all governments, forget. This is the dystopia future we all face unless climate action is taken seriously in Australia, and by the world.…see more Like Roula V.’s comment · 5 Likes 5 Likes on Roula V.’s comment · 3 Replies 3 Replies on Roula V.’s comment Rachel Cywinski Rachel Cywinski 2nd degree connection2nd Landscape for Life (TM) instructor 8h Roula V. : All continents are at risk as apex predators continue to be disrespected in the same way: https://besjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/1365-2656.12607 It is difficult for anyone to see what has/is happening. I have worked in many parts of the world where natural systems have been disrupted, and while in the short run there have been advantages (for the economy), over a period of years or decades or longer, the results have been catastrophic. The socio-enviro-economic system is complex ... and everything is connected! #TVM
