The rich and powerful have gamed taxation systems for decades in all sorts of ways and essentially given themselves a free pass. As a result the world's richest people and companies are in possession of huge amounts of financial wealth and governments at every level and pretty much everywhere on the planet are catastrophically short of money. There is rapidly increasing economic instability made worse and highlighted by the current Covid-19 emergency. It is high time that tax systems were reformed to make them less dysfunctional.
