Aurus is Russia’s first state-of-the-art presidential car, designed especially for Vladimir Putin. The president conceived the car #1 project, and it was implemented from scratch by a renowned automobile research institute in only five years, making its first public appearance at Vladimir Putin’s presidential inauguration in May 2018.
The goal of the ‘Cortege’ project was to create a car that would satisfy the unique requirements of the presidential garage while meeting the wants of luxury car buyers in the retail market and serving as an clear reference to the country of its origin. Sounds like a real challenge.
To create a true masterpiece of the automobile industry, the project team used the experience of prominent national and foreign carmakers, including cutting-edge technology like 3D printing and sophisticated market research and marketing schemes.
Before picking up Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin on May 7, 2021, Aurus underwent dozens of tests to meet at least 60 criteria: safety, visibility, environmental safety, gas consumption, brakes, etc. As a result, the design and construction were altered several times. But the result was worth all the failed tries.
