In the early 1970s I lived very near this airfield. Back then it had only two runways, and compared to what it is today, it was small and relatively primitive. It was home to Delta which was fast becoming one of the top airlines in the USA. One of the things that impressed me back then were the stories told by Delta employees about the top management style of the company where every employee in the company got a high degree of respect ... something that tends to disappear when a company grows.
