MSNBC interview: Trump Grasped At Every Straw To Try To Overturn The Election

Burgess COMMENTARY
I am having a lot of difficulty with the idea that a man with all the character flaws of Donald Trump can get anywhere near the top of American politics. The fact that he got elected in the first place shocked me, but I explained it away by assuming it must have been much to do with the general apathy and lack of interest in serious matters on the part of the American electorate.
I think he made some friends in high (rich) places with the passage of new tax legislation fairly early in his administration which lowered tax rates substantially with major benefits for the wealthy. This move probably helped with the financing of the Republican party and kept the GOP somewhat supportive of Trump.
I still find it difficult to understand how Trump survived two impeachments at the hands of the House of Representatives. The fact that Republican politicians seem to be in fear of Trump says a lot about Trump and a lot about Repulican Party members. From my point of view, none of it is good.
I believe America is in deep trouble. Compared with the poorest countries in the world, the country is fine ... but compared to what it could be and what it should be it is a huge disappointment.
The sooner Trump and his enablers are removed from the scene the better things will be. Time is not on the 'good folk's side'.

A Trump DOJ vet who pushed false voter fraud claims testified before the Jan. 6 committee after stonewalling the probe. Meanwhile, Mike Pence’s documents will soon be turned over to the committee. This comes as the committee is investigating Trump’s direct involvement in a plot to seize voting machines and the $1 million payout he made to his former chief of staff’s non-profit just 25 days after the probe started.
