Burgess COMMENTARY
Prince Philip was an admirable consort to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth.
I am old enough to remember the news articles when Princess Elizabeth first met Prince Philip. It was when Prince Philip was a cadet at the Royal Navy College, Dartmouth. He was photographed in small boat rowing madly after the departing Royal Yacht Britannia. I think Princess Elizabeth was 16 at the time, and he was 19 or 20.
Prince Philip went on to command a Royal Navy ship in the Mediteranean during WWII and would have had a high profile career in the Royal Navy it he had not married the Queen!
