SANCTIONS
UKRAINE WAR SANCTIONS COME AT A PRICE WSJ: Hundreds of Jets Are Stuck in a Fight Between Russia and the West Original article: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfTTdSbspDo Burgess COMMENTARY The capitalist free market system has proved very profitable over the past 40 years with financialization a major contribiutor to corporate profits and investor wealth. But part of the free market caitalist system is that it is meant to enable the private business organization and investors better to assess risk than the 'dumb' government and its bureaucrats. So now, with a rather difficult risk in play, the leasing companies and the insurers are now starting to say talk about having the risks unerwritten by government. WIMPS!!!!!!!!!! Maybe the government can extent them some help, but in the end the totality of the losses should be born by the leasing companies and the insurance companies in accordance with the agreements that they signed up for when the going was easy. After all ... aren't these folk meant to be the experts. My expectation is that the governments will cave in and the whole of their risk will be underwritten by government and the taxpayers who have to fund the government. Stay tuned. We will see what happens!!!!!!!! Peter Burgess | |||||||||

Russia is holding more than 400 Western-owned planes inside its borders, giving leasing companies little chance of getting them back. The move could mean billions of dollars in losses for Western insurers and problems ahead for Russian airlines. Photo illustration: Laura Kammermann
