Almost every TV interview I see, I find myself struggling to contain myself because of the manner in which the interview seems to be more about the 'gotchas' than the true substance.
My conclusion is that one of the biggest problems that needs to be addressed is to 'up the game' being played by the US media. Far too many of the moderators or anchors clearly do not have a particularly good grasp of the subject matter ... and whoever writes their scripts are often equally lacking in the essential foundational information.
I have been a critic of American (US) education for a very long time, and one would have hoped that this would be offset by a stong media ... but the media seems to be suffering from the same malaise, and to some extent simply strengthens the deeply held ignorance around a huge number of vital issues.
These are difficult times ... and the powerful and wealthy are doing far too little to help in making this world a whole lot better place.
I am a fan of AOC. She may be young ... but she has a good education, a good brain and some solid experience in the real world. My impression is that she has been learning fast and is in no mood to sell out on what matters for her constituents ... which is sometimes what compromise gets to be in modern Washington.
