Listening to the general news chatter in the West, one gets the impression that the Western allies are not doing very much to support the fighters in Ukraine. Whether this is a fact or not is difficult to ascertain. President Zelensky is relentless in making the point that more heavy weapons are needed by Ukraine ... but how much this is actually reflecting a dangerous shortage of heavy munitions is not clear. I don't want to tell the Russian military brass anything that will help them to do damage to the Ukrainian positions.
I was born at the beginning of World War II, and during my youth I read a lot about the conduct of the war including the role that secrecy played in winning the war. I remember the phrase 'Loose lips sink ships' and the radio propaganda broadcast into the UK. I remember the massive build up of military material hidden in woods prior to D-day and the visible build up of military supplies hundreds of miles from where the D-day invasion was to take place.
I am very inteerested in the day to day progress of the war in Ukraine ... but also understand that the information may not be very good for very good reasons. My impression is that the forces of Ukraine continue to do a spectacular job and deserve all the help that we have the ability to give ... and we need for the media and political hacks to stop whining about how difficult life in the United States and in free Europe has become ... I don't have much patience for the Whining Wimps of the West !!!!

The Russian - Ukrainian war has clearly and once again confirmed that artillery is indeed the God of war. Using their great advantage in artillery and rocket artillery, Russian troops create a firewall, which they use to iron Ukrainian positions. Alas, the Ukrainian troops have nothing to counter it with so far. They are woefully short of modern artillery or the Multiple Launch Rocket System, MLRS for short. But last week, the U.S. White House officially announced the delivery of the MLRS M142 HIMARS to Ukraine.
