THE UKRAINE WAR
BLACK SEA BLOCKADE CRUX video ... Putin Blocks Black Sea, West Panics: Why Finding New Export Routes for Ukraine's Grain Is Not Easy Original article: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oGcDfSKbW7c Peter Burgess COMMENTARY The war in Ukraine has huge global repercussions ... not least the aggravation of hunger around the world. Prior to the Ukraine War, I did not realise how important the agricultural exports from Russia and Ukraine were in the world grain trade ... and especially exports through the Black Sea. War usually has unintended consequences, and the Ukraine War is no exception. Putin must be in a state of shock over the unexpected cohesion of the Western bloc and especially NATO. Russian aggression did not split NATO (and the EU countries) but did exactly the opposite. Worse ... additional countries are working to join NATO and the EU and strengthen them rather than the other way round. The Ukraine War has also been a wake-up call for many countries relative to their reliance on profit maximised but unreliable supply chains. The sad thing about the disruption in the grain trade is that the people most impacted are going to be the people who are already hungry and not in any position to handle further deprivation. There are few countries who have behaved responsibly in the past few years. It is encouraging that many are stepping up in the face of Russia's naked aggression against Ukraine ... but how long this will last is a concern. Countries like the USA and Germany are vital ... but public sentiment in both these countries is fickle, to say the least !!!!!! Peter Burgess | |||||||||
Putin Blocks Black Sea, West Panics: Why Finding New Export Routes for Ukraine's Grain Is Not Easy
CRUX Jun 23, 2022 1.45M subscribers ... 112,647 views Ukraine's harvested crops risk rotting in silos or ships as Russia's Black Sea blockade has prevented export of grain. Ukraine shipped over 98% of its exports from its largest Black Sea ports until Putin launched an invasion. Ukrainian producers have resorted to sales by land, ferrying grain by railway, road and river to European neighbours. Experts say the efforts can increase exports, but would still not be sufficient enough to meet global food demand. The West has been scrambling to find alternative routes to get Ukrainian grain to markets and prevent global hunger crisis. #RussiaBlackSeaBlockade. #BlackSeaRegions #UkraineGrainExport
