Peter Burgess COMMENTARY
I have never been in the military ... not in the UK nor in the United States. As a schoolboy I was involved with the schools 'Combined Cadet Force (CCF)' and while I was at Cambridge I participated in the ROTC but that is as near the military as I ever came.

Nevertheless, I have a high regard for the skills of the military, expecially the 'Special Forces' whose skills are quite amazing.

When I was at school I was part of our school 'shooting team'. We had perhaps the best school shooting team in the UK at the time and we won a lot of the eompetitions at Bisley for several years around the time I was at school. I was not part of the shooting team, but had a role in certain competitions where I had to guide the shooters to the target. During this involvement I got to understand that the eyesight of the top shooters was far better than my own which made a big difference in their shooting performance.

During my school years I got to learn something about the equipment in use by the British military ... much of it left over from WWII. I have been aware if some of the technological advances made in military weaponry over the years, but it is only during the recent past few months that I have realized how far military techology has progressed. I was somewhat aware of progress in the air force, but now have become aware of how much progress has also been made in naval technology and within the army. I am somewhat comforted by the power of much of this modern military technology, though not comforted much by its economy !!!!!!!!!!

The M109 Palladin is not particularly new ... but it is modern and mature, meaning that it has been tested in real world fighting conditions and modified as needed.

For me, there is an important open question related to the quantity and quality of the inventory of Russia's artillery and their associated ammunition. Maybe the quantities are massive, but maybe Russian corruption has degraded the inventory ... but this is difficult to know. The West does not have a particularly cost effective military, but is certainbly a lot less corrupt than that of the Russian Federation. !!!!!!!!!!!!

Russian Army Shaken By This News: M109 Paladin Use Against Russian Army.

It’s been almost four months since the Russo-Ukrainian war began and we still get daily headlines about the war as if it just began. It’s safe to say that the tension between Russia and Ukraine is still at an all-time high seeing how the two countries won’t back down from one another. The war initiated by Russia has quickly become an arms race. The nation with the better set of artillery and weapons is ‘winning’ the war.

It is easy to think that because Russia is a military superpower, they would lead the battle, but the fact that it has been four months since the war began and Russia can barely expand their stronghold over Ukraine suggests that Ukraine is more competent than most would think.

In May 2022, Ukraine reported that they had received an unspecified number of M109A6 “Paladin” units from a joint effort between the Netherlands, Italy, and Belgium. More recently, in June 2022, Norway has provided Ukraine with 22 more M109A6 “Paladin” units. This raises the question: why is everyone sending Ukraine the Paladin? In today’s video, we’ll take a closer look at M109A6 “Paladin” and why all the countries deem it a valuable asset to Ukraine’s military lineup.
