THE TRUMP SAGA
WITHER ACCOUNTABILITY? MSNBC ... Bob Woodward Reacts to 'Stunning' Jan. 6 Testimony and Resulting 'Battle Royale' in the DOJ Original article: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzkVCtgHmxM Peter Burgess COMMENTARY I have to admit to having become increasingly disappointed in the United States. Back in 1960, I visited the United States when I was a student at Cambridge University and was impressed with what I observed. There was a stark contrast between the prosperity of the United States and the austerity of the United Kingdom. I think there were around 300 of us that came to North America that summer. We were allowed to do summer jobs in Canada but not in the United States ... which should have been an alert about what would happen over the next many decades. The Cambridge Canada Club chartered two Boeing 707s from Air France to get us from London to New York in late May and return us to London in early September. The return air fare per person was £70 ... and I also purchased a 90 day go anywhere in North America Greyhound ticket in the UK for something like $30 to give me mobility. That trip ... and another trip a year later, changed the trajectory of my life. I came to North America as an economic migrant a few years later in 1967 and the rest is history. Sadly ... the 1960s proved to be the end of the super-good times for the United States post WWII ... and to this day the leadership of the USA has been having trouble getting its act together in a way that makes sense for ordinary people ... and, of course, culminating in the events of January 6th which is the subject of the Bob Woodward interview.
