Gov. Chris Sununu attempted to slip in a lie denying the Trump/Putin collusion during the 2016 election. Jen Psaki did not allow him to lie to her audience.
Jen Psaki did not let a lie stand.
Jen Psaki, subbing for Chris Hayes, interviewed New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu. The governor said he decided not to run in the Republican Presidential Primaries. He also urged all of those politicians who are in the race or entering the race to do it because they have something to offer and not simply for vanity. More importantly, he urges them to quit the race early when it is clear that they are not viable.
That is sound advice. After all, if the expanding number of candidates remains in the Republican contest, it is sure to give Trump the best chance of winning. One has to ask, though, why so many decided to enter the race now when it seemed they weren’t for some time. All these candidates are likely hedging their bets. Many likely believe that even Trump’s legal problems do not seem to have affected his poll numbers — in fact, they are improving — this is likely temporary as more information is released.
Sununu took the opportunity to attempt to mislead Americans. He did it in a manner that many of today’s journalists would let slide. That did not work with Jen Psaki. Between the lines, he implied that the Russia/Trump 2016 Election collusion was a hoax. In fact, it was not a hoax. It was real. Psaki did not let the comment slide and pushed back several times. That was the most important part of the interview, as Sununu spent most of the time bloviating. When interviewing Right Wing liars, one must always be ready for sneak attacks. Psaki was.
