I stopped watching 'Meet the Press' with Chuck Todd a long time ago. The comments on this interview suggest that I was not the only one.
I grew up in the UK, though I have been based in the USA now for over 60 years. In my childhood there was a clear distinction between the serious newspapers and the papers that merely served up 'entertainment' with zero news value. The latter had a lot of readership ... but little of intellectual value on their print pages!
My impression is that there is some of the same division in the USA ... but maybe not as obvious. Murdoch has made a fortune in both the UK and the USA running a huge trash news network ... which should tell one something about the general state of the population as a whole. It is not a pretty state of affairs.
I don't blame the readers ... but I do blame decision makers in the media who have chosen this way to run the media. Perhaps more broadly I also blame the modern education system that seems to have sidelined a lot of what is essential in a child's education and their emergence into adulthood!
There should be a 'warning' on this Times Radio interview! The media is dangerous for the health of democracy!
