going to win he was cocky he picked someone in JD Vance who offered nothing beyond what Donald Trump already offers he didn't come from a swing state he's not a moderate he wasn't a different gender or race or religion he is just a carbon copy of Donald Trump espousing the exact same brand of trumpism it was a strategy of doubling down on the base and not even bothering to try and expand the Coalition because the Trump team was just that sure they could beat Joe Biden only small problem they're not running against Joe Biden they're now running against KLA Harris who's not only better positioned according to polling to win in states that seem to be Out Of Reach for Biden and she's not only better positioned to win back younger and non-white voters who Biden was especially weak with this time around but she's also has the opportunity now to elect a VP candidate who can confirm major electoral advantages there's Josh Shapiro for example the popular governor of the musn state of Pennsylvania there's Gretchen Whitmer the popular governor of another musn state of 1:00 Michigan there's Pete budajudge and Gavin Nome two of the democratic party's most effective communicators both of whom are capable of winning over even Fox News audiences there's Andy Basher who's even managed to win as a democrat in Kentucky without compromising his values there's Mark Kelly a astronaut how do you defeat an astronaut you don't all of which is to say the miscalculation that Trump made by beating his chest picking someone like JD Vance may very well have cost him the election I mean don't take it from me this is JD Vance in one of his first appearances on the stump it is the 1:31 weirdest thing to me Democrats say that 1:33 it is racist to believe well they say 1:36 it's racist to do anything I had a Diet 1:39 Mountain Dew yesterday and one today I'm 1:41 sure they're going to call that racist 1:42 too 1:44 but it's 1:49 good I love you 1:52 guys 1:55 but yeah apparently what the more times than you can count that so or 2:17 so looks like they're plucked right out 2:18 of Central Casting Donald Trump loves 2:20 more than anything when people look and 2:23 act the part and yet now he's got JD 2:26 Vance with the stage presence of a 2:27 manila envelope delivering comedy so bad 2:30 that it makes Mike Huckabee seem funny 2:32 and this is the America First Protege 2:35 yikes in fact the extent to which JD and 2:37 Trump are growing more and more afraid 2:39 of kamla was put on full display here 2:41 with Vance offering this tpid attack on 2:43 her our likely opponent kamla Harris 2:46 because you know she said a couple of 2:48 days ago that I showed no loyalty to the 2:52 United States that I have no loyalty to 2:53 the United 2:54 [Music] 2:58 States well you know I I I I don't know 3:01 kamla I served in the United States 3:03 Marine Corps and I built a business what 3:04 the hell have you done other than 3:06 collect the government check for the 3:08 past 20 3:13 years first of all the government check 3:16 that he complains about yeah she worked 3:18 in the government she's been the VP for 3:20 the last four years a US senator before 3:22 that and the Attorney General of 3:23 California before that in fact she was 3:25 so effective at her government job that 3:28 JD Vance is complaining about that 3:29 Donald Trump himself literally donated 3:31 to her campaign JD Vance's own running 3:34 mate literally wanted her to keep 3:36 getting that government check and JD is 3:38 also buying for a job where his salary 3:39 would come from you guessed it a 3:42 government check so as far as I can tell 3:44 JD Vance's logic here is that government 3:46 checks are bad and that's why you should 3:48 vote for him to collect a government 3:50 check did I get that right oh and if JD 3:53 really wants to talk about jobs then we 3:55 should probably talk about the fact that 3:57 the guy was an investment banker who in 3:58 2020 raised $93 million for his firm and 4:02 yet that's the guy who's going to be a 4:04 populist for the little guy kind of like 4:06 how Donald Trump was a populist for the 4:08 little guy right and yet when he took 4:09 office his sole legislative achievement 4:11 was a tax cut for Millionaires and 4:13 billionaires and then he dangled the 4:14 carrot in front of his supporters saying 4:16 that if the Republicans won midterms 4:18 they'd finally pass a middle class tax 4:20 cut weird how they never bothered to do 4:22 that when they had full control of 4:23 government even though they did find a 4:25 way to pass one for the ultra wealthy 4:27 but hey populism or something thing so 4:30 if you think that yet another 4:31 millionaire is going to somehow mean 4:33 that the Forgotten Americans who 4:34 comprise the Republican base are going 4:35 to be taken care of open your eyes they 4:38 had the opportunity to show you that 4:40 they cared about you and they blew you 4:42 off all Trump has done is sell you 4:44 sneakers and bibles and nfts and trading 4:46 cards and hats he summoned you to the 4:48 capital and got a thousand of you 4:50 indicted he lied about covid and left a 4:52 disproportionate number of Americans 4:54 living in red States dead because they 4:56 listen to him the guy is a fraud in fact 4:59 he's such fraud that JD Vance himself 5:01 admitted as much just a few years back 5:03 when his political future wasn't 5:05 dependent upon kissing the ring I'm a 5:07 never Trump guy I never liked him it 5:09 makes you think that at a fundamental 5:11 level this is sort of a he said she said 5:13 right and at the end of the day do you 5:15 believe Donald Trump who always tells 5:17 the truth just kidding or do you believe 5:19 that woman on that tape I cannot stand 5:21 Trump because I think he's a fraud well 5:24 I think he's a total fraud that is 5:25 exploiting these people who is a total 5:28 fraud like you said I I agree with you 5:29 on Trump because I don't think that he's 5:31 the person I I don't think he actually 5:33 cares about folks so as a conservative 5:36 who thinks that Trump does not have the 5:39 answers and isn't qualified to be 5:41 president what are you going to do this 5:44 election if you don't mind 5:46 saying uh my current plan is to vote 5:49 either third party or as I joke to my 5:51 wife I might write in my dog because 5:53 that's about as good as it it seems but 5:56 you know I I think there's a chance if I 5:58 feel like Trump has a a really good 6:00 chance of winning that I might have to 6:02 hold my nose and and vote for Hillary 6:04 Clinton ultimately I think I'll probably 6:06 vote third party I might vote for this 6:08 this new guy who I really like Evan 6:10 McMullan who I actually uh met the other 6:13 day but but I I I think that that I I'm 6:16 I'm I'm going to vote for I'm going to 6:17 vote third party because I can't stomach 6:19 Trump I think that he's noxious and is 6:22 leading the white working class to a 6:24 very dark place he's leading our 6:26 political discourse to a very negative 6:28 place if Trump is elected president he 6:30 has to be a much different president 6:31 than he was a candidate it's a candidate 6:32 he was fundamentally divisive there's 6:34 this message in 2016 but I'm not 6:36 surprised by Trump's rise and I think 6:38 the entire party has only itself to 6:39 blame we are whether we like it or not 6:41 the party of lower income lower 6:43 education white people and I've been 6:44 saying for a long time that we need to 6:46 offer those people something and hell 6:48 maybe even expand our appeal to 6:49 workingclass black people in the process 6:51 or a demagogue w we are now at that 6:53 point Trump is the fruit of the party's 6:55 Collective neglect I go back and forth 6:57 between thinking Trump is a cynical 6:59 like Nixon who wouldn't be that 7:00 bad and might even prove useful or that 7:02 he's America's Hitler how's that for 7:04 discouraging so yeah if the complete 7:06 Nutter lack of any electoral benefit 7:08 conferred by JD Vance wasn't enough the 7:10 baggage of him straight up savaging 7:12 Donald Trump on his biggest character 7:13 flaws really is the icing on the cake so 7:16 Trump might have been feeling especially 7:17 cocky when he first tapped JD as his VP 7:20 but since then I'll bet the overwhelming
