President Biden departs New York City aboard the new military helicopter being used as Marine One - the VH92 Patriot. Several other military helicopters accompanied the presidential transport while police boats and law enforcement maintained security in the East River.
The new Sikorsky VH-92A Patriot recently went into service with the US Marine Corps as the anticipated replacement for the ageing VH-3D Sea King and VH-60 White Hawk used by US Presidents for several decades. Marine Corps aircraft only assume the call-sign 'Marine One' when the Commander in Chief is on-board.
Marine Helicopter Squadron One (HMX-1) are responsible for operating the presidential fleet of helicopters that are also used by the vice president and other VIPs. The squadron also operate the MV-22 Osprey, of which several are seen in this video transporting security, staff and press. These typically operate under the call-sign 'Night Hawk'.
President Joe Biden attended the 9/11 Memorial Service at Ground Zero along with Vice President Kamala Harris, former President Donald Trump and running-mate J.D. Vance. The President and Vice President then departed New York City for Shankesville, PA for the Flight 93 memorial service before attending the final event at The Pentagon in Virginia.
