unmatched fuel efficiency extended range and the ability to carry more passengers it was designed to dominate The Long Haul travel Market initially set to enter commercial service in 2020 the 7 77x seemed to be a no-brainer for 1:02 Airlines struggling with Rising fuel costs and increasing pressure to reduce carbon emissions but what started as a promising project quickly turned into a nightmare problems with the engines structural failures during stress tests and delays have plagued the program for years most recently a critical issue was discovered where the engine attaches to the wing a flaw so severe that it forced Boeing to Halt all test flights of the 777x the issue lies with a crucial structural component called the thrust linkage which transmits the engine's power to the airframe this part broke during testing a failure that could compromise the entire aircraft stability on Long Haul flights Boeing is now racing to redesign the faulty component but this is no simple fix what's even worse this redesign comes at a massive cost both in time and money Boeing's 2:01 Target to release the 777x by 2025 is now in serious Jeopardy and the patience of major customers like Qatar Airways and emiris is wearing thin and this is where Airbus comes into the picture Boeing's troubles are creating the perfect storm for Airbus to swoop in with their own solution the A35 2000 a stretched version of the already successful a 351000 the a350 is more modern more efficient and has a proven track record of reliability all qualities that airlines are now looking for with the a350 2000 Airbus could offer a direct competitor to the 777x but without the technical headaches Boeing is facing in fact Airbus could add about 4 m to the a350s fuselage giving Airlines an extra 40 seats efficient in commercial operations this streamlined approach would allow Airbus to get the a350 2000 into service significantly faster than Boeing can fix the ongoing issues with the 777x Boeing has faced continuous setbacks with the 777x from engine problems to structural failures pushing its entry into service even further into the future meanwhile Airbus with its more mature and stable a350 platform could leap ahead by rolling out the a350 2000 in a much shorter time frame this would not only give Airbus a huge 5:00 Competitive Edge in the widebody market but also offer Airlines an demonstrating that the company has the expertise and momentum to manage multiple projects simultaneously this freighter variant of the a350 shares much of the same DNA as the passenger model meaning
