In my opinion, the hospitality extended by King Charles to the Emir of Qatar is both impressive and smart.
I cannot pretend to be a fully fledged expert on the Middle East, but I have had some exposure to the region going back to the early 1980s / late 1970s. I was in the region doing a variety of consulting assignments for the World Bank and others. My British credentials served me well and enabled me to do more senior assignments than experts of many other nationalities who were equally competent but not 'British'.
I know this has changed considerably over time ... but it pleases me greatly that King Charles seems to understand the immense value of high level pomp and connection in a way that few other leaders can manage.
This video has reminded me of the importance of 'leadership' and the many ways that leadership can be valuable. Thank you!
