- and well it's about time this is the Saturday coffee clutch with he Heather
- Loft House said Yours Truly Robert R uh Heather how are you doing two and a half
- weeks we so after the we have to start well I just I mean I thank you for
- asking I ask people because I'm concerned we're all going through something I know I'm okay I mean I the
- ups and downs I can have an up in the same minute I have an up and a down that see feels High and that feels low but I
- do a thing which I think is survival Andor denial Andor smart of trying to
- find winds and glimpses of Hope and things like that so I pick a few for the
- week like the fact that some houses some seats were flipped in California and we
- for the first time ever we have over 50% of the legislature is women for the
- first time ever CIA was a wonderful California well let's let's before we
- get to Cali before we get to women and I want to talk about all of that um what
- 1:04
- are we going to do today what else are we talk I mean I know what we're going to do we're going to have to talk about Trump's appointments obviously lots to
- discuss there and then Elon Musk we have to talk about him one of the appointments and then what are the Dems
- doing and what should they be doing and then I have a secret clip for you oh dear you hate to love it or love to I
- well look at uh in terms of uh the appointments I mean Gates is out the of
- Hell uh the interesting thing to me is that Donald Trump comes in Roaring in
- two and a half weeks ago uh without no constraints at all I mean there's there's a republican Congress Republican
- o over control over both chambers of Congress uh he's got a supreme court that is supine that's willing to do
- anything for him he doesn't have to face another election not because he's going to fix it well maybe he will but because
- he's basically he's already won uh so there's no constraint on Donald Trump
- 2:02
- and yet he doesn't get his appointment I mean Gates is out for you know one of
- the most important jobs there attorney general so what do we make of this well
- I mean there are various theories right so one is he's the sacrificial lamb
- right so he picked someone who wouldn't get through on purpose what do you think about that one um I think there's
- something to that you mean in other words sacrificial l he's kind of the fog guy Trump
- understood that he's going to put up all these crazies and at least one of them has to fall and why not put up somebody
- who's really likely to fall right uh but the the trouble is with that theory is
- it gives the Republicans the Republicans and the Senate we're talking about Senate Republicans uh a little bit of
- Backbone in other words they've they've exercised Backbone in a way that most people are surprised uh but how many are
- 3:00
- we talking about here right well they they needed four that's it four um and
- it looked like Lisa marowski of Alaska and Susan Collins of Maine were already
- opposed to Gates but then who else is out there and are they willing to expose
- themselves to the wrath of trump right that's the real issue at a point in time
- when Trump seems to be uh he says he has a mandate and the Republicans control
- everything uh and yet Trump could not do this there was enough backbone we don't
- know exactly what happened it'll be very interesting to know who said what to whom but it's pretty clear that the
- Republican leadership in the senate or the potential Republican leadership John
- th said to somebody in the Trump potential White House uh this is not
- going to fly right uh and that's interesting because it means that there is a constraint
- 4:00
- liit on Trump's but do you think he was mad do you think he was mad at his people I mean it's not he didn't know
- that he would not get confirmed until he did and then once he announced it we knew it wasn't happening right well he was well he was saying just last week uh
- he may not be confirmed now that's the that's the tell uh because if a president even a president who is in
- full you know mode of uh of of expanding bra powers and bravado and yes I what
- anything I've got a mandate if he says somebody may not get through that he
- knows something y so Gates was in trouble uh and it's pretty clear that Gates was in trouble because not just
- the Senate the house Ethics Committee but also because the attorney generals uh office the justice department uh and
- also the FBI there were a lot of players that had a lot of information about
- Gates and about G being a sexual predator and not only just being a sexual predator but also being a sexual
- 5:02
- predator on a child somebody who is legally a child and also allegations of
- uh having drug drug infested orgies and paying women not just one but a bunch of
- women for sex you don't you cannot get an attorney general through but also you don't want this to be a circus a
- carnival and it was heading in the direction of a carnival very fast so
- he's out I was relieved that was a good moment of the week and then Pam Bondi is
- immediately but but this is the another tell how quickly Pam Bondi becomes the
- Attorney General nominee uh Pam Bondi is uh she's a Trumper uh she has
- established as Attorney General of Florida she did whatever Trump wanted she uh you know she didn't seek any kind
- of uh constraints or any kind of remedy for uh allegations of fraud also she's
- 6:03
- been around right she led chance that said lock her up for she was she was one of those
- trumpers lock her up she's been around for a long time and she has established herself as a trump not just loyalist but
- a subservient to Trump and I want to make that distinction because you know a
- presidents like loyalists you want people who are going to be loyal to you but Trump wants people who are going to
- be subservient who are not going to do anything to question his authority or
- his judgment and Pam Bondi is looks like she's one of those people I know and she helped him during one of his
- impeachments right I mean she's been there and she's been his attorney now the question that is I hope is going to
- be asked assuming that there is a hearing confirmation hearing is whether she knows the difference between Donald
- Trump as her client and the United States as her client there it is I mean the attorney general and this is know we
- 7:02
- learned this the hard way with Richard Nixon and his attorney general the Attorney General is not the president's
- own lawyer right the Attorney General is the country's lawyer the nation's lawyer
- uh and I don't think any of these people are going to realize that well I mean they'll I'm sure they'll answer yes of
- course but see this is the difference between loyalty and subservience this is why we have to make sure that these
- people understand they have an ultimate they have an ultimate loyalty
- and responsibility to you to me to all of us of course
- and I know but that's what Kam Harris kept saying during her campaign I will be for all of you you know but but with
- when it comes to the attorney general the question is when Trump says I want you to go after such and such uh you
- know Nancy Pelosi or somebody else uh the attorney general has got to say no
- 8:00
- that is not in the interest of the United States uh I would be amazed if
- Pam Bondi said that no she won't but the difference between a loyal someone who's loyal and someone who's subservient so I
- feel like you can have a loyal person who completely has your back but we'll
- look you in the eye and say I got to be honest about this one this isn't a great idea or this is not going to be in your
- best interest and I don't think any of these people including because of Trump's narcissist ISM are going to be
- they are just going to be like my dog Maggie when she rolls over I mean she is so subservient has has Trump asked
- Maggie I she is so brave she declined she's the one yeah and I'm so proud of her for standing her ground well I mean
- yes u a a and this is true of any cabinet officer uh you've got to say
- this is not good for the country Mr President this is not good for you uh but even if it's good for you if it's
- not good good for the country you should not be doing this but no one's going to say any of those things right cuz it's
- 9:03
- subservience and being terrified of a narcissist and falling in line This is
- the danger and it's the danger particularly with the justice department and the state department and the defense department these are the three big ones
- and we could talk about National Intelligence director as well where you really do have to be able to stand up to
- the president and say no that's not in the interest of the country right so we saw the bounds of his power one time so
- that was great who are do we think anyone else I mean RFK Jr is going to be hard to get through tulsy Gabbert I mean
- is do we think is everyone else a shoe in there there differences I mean RFK Jr
- I think the the pharmaceutical industry is already organizing and Far big PHA is
- very powerful big uh and there are a lot of Republicans who have taken a lot of money from Big Pharma uh but uh in terms
- of any other organ ized opposition to RFK you know there are a lot of people
- 10:04
- out there members of the public that know he's a crackpot uh you know in terms of vaccines and so on but I don't
- see that much organized organized resistance it's going to be close uh
- with regard to telsey gabard uh and the Director of National Intelligence I think the Republicans are going to balk
- just some extent because she has been such a she's been basically mouthing exactly what Putin has been saying over
- and over again with particularly with regard to Ukraine uh and there are some Hawks still in the Republican party and
- still in the Senate and those Hawks are going to are going to be very worried I
- know in terms of what's happening in Ukraine it's interesting to be watching it all right now at the at the end of
- the Biden presidency what's happening we have a couple what is it more weeks practically well it's fascinating in
- that in that both Ukraine and Russia and the United States uh all know that there
- 11:02
- will be after Trump gets in some sort of compromise negotiation and the question
- is what's the status quo uh on January 20th when Trump is gets in becomes
- president uh and that status quo is going to determine where you begin your negotiations from uh which is why I
- think Biden said ultimately to Ukraine finally you can have these these Rockets
- Biden would not give those Rockets to Ukraine for the longest time and now they get them and they have a lot of
- technology that they did not get before uh but they're getting at the 11th Hour
- well they're getting it to the 11th hour at the same time that North Koreans are coming in to help uh you know there's
- some something in the order of 1,500 Russian troops are dying a day at
- that Ukraine Russian border uh so they which is the Border you know lines are
- moving too that's right and that's that's the critical thing uh so this is all a matter of War games
- 12:03
- in in a way um what about so should we talk about musk I guess we have to well
- I think we have to we have to um Elon Musk is is another wild card he doesn't
- have to be confirmed in fact he is sitting in the cat bird seat because he
- uh he talks about being co- in charge uh of with vi vi risani of this department
- of of government Efficiency do but there's no they're
- going to have a logo for there's no department but it's going to be a another advisory committee uh it doesn't
- really even say I mean it's not going to be bound apparently it does not want to be bound U you're I'm shocked musk
- doesn't want to be bound by the There are rules for government advisory committees in terms of openness and
- transparency we're not going to see any of that uh but the significance is that while all of these fireworks are going
- 13:04
- on with regard to the nominees uh you have uh Elon Musk and
- ramas Swani uh really planning to take
- $2 trillion out of the budget out of the government budget now there's no way
- where we're going to find it two and two is four divided by Social Security well
- the irony here is is is manyfold I mean first of all you've got Elon Musk has a lot of government contracts he's his
- wealth is built on government contracts it's not just SpaceX it's all the
- satellites uh and even Tesla has a lot of contracts and they regulatory issues there something in the order of almost
- 20 major regulatory fights going on with Elon Musk so musk is uh has has
- conflicts of interest Galore uh but he I believe the only way you can even begin
- 14:01
- to conceive of taking $2 trillion out of the budget is if you go after Social
- Security Medicare and Medicaid yep it's not going to be good and I mean these
- are the Republicans have wanted to get rid of these things for for years um
- Social Security is 1935 that means it's the it's it's the
- most Americans are dependent on it Americans feel with some justification
- they paid in to Social Security it's their it's their savings uh Medicare is similar Medicaid is the is the kind of
- stepchild of Medicare but there it's a huge program $850 billion dollar and
- many many Americans are dependent uh on Medicaid
- so what is the history can I ask you I mean you've been in go you were in government for what
- 4370 I came in with George Washington just a little after but so these commissions and these these efficiency
- 15:01
- you know committees they go nowhere they go nowhere but how many do you I mean what any anecdotes on this it would be
- help I've seen five of them come and go beginning with a Grace commission under
- Reagan and extending all the way through the Simpson BS commission Obama right yeah and um no they they never go
- anywhere but what they sometimes do is they legitimize uh targeting of certain
- programs uh for not elimination or they raise questions about uh but I don't
- think this is going to be a commission this Elon Musk outfit this is going to
- be really uh he's going to use x to sell whatever it is that he wants to sell
- this is going to be a a kind of marketing advertising and lie infested
- effort yeah so uh fasten your seat belts this is this is not going to be fun uh a
- lot of people are going to get hurt by this and I can bet you that Elon Musk is
- 16:04
- not going to suggest getting rid of any of his contracts you know space or
- military contracts or anything else that I mean all of his stuff is going to stay put it's the poor and the working class
- and the lower middle class who are really going to be hurt but it's so interesting because Trump is this
- narcissist and it will not last forever where there can be a rocket ship man
- down the street from you taking away from stealing your rocket Thunder but
- and you saw whoopy gold this week was um you know on The View dismissive and like who you know the pr the vice president
- it's not JD it's not JD Vance it's musk and these kinds of things where it's
- what's musk's power and is he more important and is he smarter and is he more present and is he craftier I mean
- there is no way for four years Trump is going to truck with that in in fact I
- think that he uh Trump can't stand somebody else to take away the Limelight
- 17:04
- uh and to the extent that musk gets into the Limelight or demands the Limelight or for that matter JD Vance or the third
- son which is Donald Trump Jr I mean all three of them are competing with each
- other I mean it must be can you mention being in marago the palace Intrigue you're actually in the Paris Palace with
- a Mad King I mean this is like a Shakespearean you know Dr I mean not it's a bad they go around the bar is it
- called the low bar and they go under theow I mean yeah where do you where do they gather but it's also it's very
- testosterone it's it's all male stuff and let's talk about this because one of
- the themes too of all of these appointees is sexual harassment sexual
- predation yeah is that a word yeah sexual predators it's not just Gates it
- is RFK Jr yep who's very bold about it by the way it is bold in what way well
- 18:02
- he says yeah I'm a bad boy oh yeah you know that kind of thing yeah you know there's not like I do want to issue an
- apology that has never happened um but then also there is um Linda McMahon oh
- the the world worldwide wrestling uh who was just named the Nomine for the
- education department which is which natural fit eliminate that's right so let's eliminate that with the woman who
- is an executive of were WWE who enabled sexual predators so sexual the the
- allegation is that she and her husband uh enabled sexual predation going on in worldwide wrestling uh and then you also
- have uh the hex heg Seth yeah who's the Fox News host who's Fox News and we know
- about Fox News and the men in Fox News but he does have allegations uh and they
- are all allegations of sexual predation um so yes you have all of these people
- 19:00
- and so Macho and and so but part of it is that Trump I mean this is just
- normalizing it's getting the fraternity together does that make him feel less in
- trouble for his own stuff or more surrounded by her own people or you know giving the middle finger to everyone yet
- again I think it all of that Heather you're absolutely right it's Trump when he surrounds himself with sexual
- predators or alleged sexual predators uh and he Trump has this history you know
- with Jee Carroll and with uh you know he has $93 million or $ 83 million judgment
- against him uh and all of the uh Hollywood tape you know the know Access
- Hollywood Access Hollywood grabb them by the generals you have you have Trump surrounding himself by people who are
- sexual alleged sexual predators and Trump's can say well in effect look I mean what I do it's boys will be boys uh
- we're all the same men will men I know and uh yes it it it I don't know that
- 20:03
- this is a conscious strategy of normalizing by Trump but it does feel that way and I know that so many women
- are feeling that this is a hard time to live in America and so many black women are saying this is a hard time to live
- in America so many marginalized people one thing from the week was Sarah McBride who is the first ever trans
- representative in DC right and the bathroom gate or whatever we want to
- call it that's happened on trans remebrance day speaker Johnson announces the latest on the bathrooms and
- representative McBride put out a post that said I'm not worried about the bathrooms I'm worried about people I'm
- worried about the people in Delaware which is where I am representing and I'm worried about people getting money and
- being able to live and work and have the best lives they can well kudos to her
- for putting the spotlight back on what she is supposed to be doing and what she does think that is her responsibility
- 21:03
- but shame on the Republicans for continuing to use trans people as
- scapegoats for changing the subject for deflecting attention for creating uh a
- tempest uh when there should not be a tempest we should be proud of the fact in this country that we have a member of
- Congress who is a who is a transgendered person U so I I I think though that the
- the Trump campaign was so successful in
- targeting transgender and and and really criticizing uh kamla Harris for I know
- her history with regard to picking out the sound bites and putting so much money behind it huge amount of money
- behind it and a lot of us said but it didn't pull well in the midterm so maybe we're okay because people are not biting
- on the trans gender issuesa there is there is I mean connect the dots you
- 22:00
- know between this these men who uh Trump has has put it appointed who have
- allegations of of sexual harassment uh and Michael Johnson and others who are
- targeting uh transgender uh this first transgender Congress person and what we
- see is a exactly what we see in Victor orban's Hungary what we see in uh well
- in Putin I mean Putin also I mean what part of fascism and part of this kind of
- Neo fascism uh is uh is is male dominance the
- traditional role this is Margaret Atwood you know this is this is where women
- should be concerned because uh once you let this this out of the bottle once you legitimate uh this kind of male
- dominance there's no there's no logical end to it but there are a couple sides to this you'll be to know in terms as I
- 23:00
- see it shocked yes I am so you have some people who say my heart bleeds for the
- white male who is really suffering right now you know some people are like come on and then other people say let's look
- at income inequality and where how people are living in the world and what
- what they are experiencing you know if that caus someone to vote for Trump then we need to look at that or if it's
- causing someone to be unhappy well look at let me there's we have to draw a distinction between an explanation yes
- and a justification yes go were you one of my students once
- maybe okay uh because I think that you can look at white males uh and
- increasingly some black males and some Latino males and say uh they have been
- on a downward escalator economically and in terms of uh uh status and social
- position of for decades uh and you can explain a lot of their
- 24:01
- anger and their their sense of displacement uh by uh all of what's
- happened over the last few decades women to the contrary uh many of them are
- economically now de independent they don't they don't have to rely on men uh
- and they are gaining strength uh 60% of college students today are women yeah uh
- I mean that's extraordinary how many how many when you were coming up in 18 in 1870 yeah when I
- I was the class of at Dartmouth College 1968 and you know how many women were at
- Darth College in 1968 zero but how many women senators were there when you were growing up was uh there was only one
- woman Senator and that was Margaret Chase Smith I mean and look at where we are now Maine this is so these we have
- to remember this bigger picture as we cry in the present well but but this again between explanation and
- 25:06
- justification there's no justification for misogyny and racis and racism uh but
- you can you can explain some of what's happened uh particularly the white male
- voter by this displacement uh in terms of in terms of money and status and
- power over the last 40 years U and what I what what's really important to
- understand is that the anger was channeled by Donald Trump and by many
- trumpers uh into hate for them uh hate for immigrants hate for uh the other the
- Deep State or the other or whoever you want to be U without and you can
- understand that but you don't have to justify it no I know it it's the income inequality stupid but it it is income
- inequality St but and it does raise the question of what Democrats ought to be doing we've talked about this a little
- 26:04
- bit before Democrats ought to be uh really right on top of the issue of uh
- corporate power and corporate greed and the wealthy trying to use their wealth
- to undermine uh our institutions and corrupt our institutions that's what's
- happening it's happening all around us but so the Dems need to do it but Bob what does that mean so we have the midterms woo that's going to be an
- excellent opportunity I mean I haven't seen Joe Biden I mean I don't see a lot of Dems today I see Heather sexual
- predators alleged well no but that's but this is one of the biggest problems we have right now uh in terms of any kind
- of counterveiling power uh there are no Democrats I mean who is the de who is the leader of the democratic party well
- Gavin Nome was in in a meme once that I saw a week ago well if you're in California maybe uh but but who speaks
- for Democrats who is out there making the case uh particularly the case I was just talking about in terms of uh you
- 27:04
- know it's inequality it's economic uh it's the corruption of of of of by
- wealth and and corporate power and private equity and billionaires and nobody I mean yes I don't seem nobody
- Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren have been making this case for years uh but
- but what about the next DNC chair now that that role I haven't read the job description lately specifically I wonder
- if it's on Craigs List or where they're posting for it I can look at it later
- but who what do we need from the person that comes in decides to fund raise because of course that's what they're
- supposed to do that's well that's exactly the problem because the DNC as an organization right used to have a
- purpose other than just fundraising it used to be a voice it used to be a a way of recruiting uh new Democrats new
- people to Run for the now it is really a fundraising machine but this is an opportunity this is a leadership
- 28:03
- position and I think we are actually hiring someone that matters and signaling also a lot with this you we
- are hiring somebody who matters do you know anybody who's going to be voting W well I'm waiting for I'm waiting to get
- my e ballot I mean this is one of the problems the Democratic party I people ask me all the time do we need a third
- party you know do we need because the Republicans have been taken over by Trump uh and have become a misogynist
- awful group of people uh and uh and National you know the kind of xenophobic
- as well as racist uh but the the Democrats are are kind of flaccid and
- and this kind of wishy-washy centrism uh and they're out for big money and you can't trust them at least this is what
- people say to me so why not a third party shouldn't we have a third party a Workers Party a a party that represents
- the bottom 90% % of Americans that can take on uh the power and the I mean it's
- 29:04
- a nice idea well it's a nice idea the problem except the problem is that we
- have a winner take all system and when you have a third party that third party
- inevitably draws away votes do we have any recent examples party that's closest
- any examples well um D Stein but it wasn't as much as an upset as you know
- people assumed no it you mean you're talking about Stein just now yeah no uh well it was I I think you can say that
- about the election overall uh it wasn't as much of a mandate for Trump we now
- know because most of the votes in California have been have been counted uh we now know that there I mean it was
- significant let's not bury the significance but it wasn't huge right that is we're still in the margin fairly
- small margin of Voters that have gone back and forth 2016 2020 2024 and the
- 30:02
- popular vote I mean that's interesting to look at and also if you look at all eligible voters only 31% of eligible
- voters voted for Trump I like to look at these numbers where you're kind of looking at the bigger picture I mean yes
- this the closer we get to those who actually voted it gets tight but if we move the aperture your point 31% of
- eligible voters voted for Trump uh that means that there are a lot of people who did not vote a I mean the the party
- that's yeah that's the third party the party of non voters is a bigger party of anyways than either Republicans Or
- democrats and how to reach the party of non-voters uh you know people have some
- opinions on this right about now have you been on X or blue sky lately hello
- well I have some opinions too I mean oh do tell well no I just think that the only way you you reach these people who
- said I'm not going to vote I mean in the 2024 I'm not going to vote because uh Donald Trump is a jerk and the Democrats
- 31:03
- don't care about me so it's tweetle Dum Tweedle leave forget it I'm going to stay home and watch television no it's
- those people the Dem if the Democrats want to reach those people that Democrats have to say y hello paid
- family leave uh you know work a profit sharing with workers uh you know we're
- going to be doing uh have we're going to pay for paid leave with a big tax on the
- wealthy wealth tax uh we're going to have uh child care and elder care we're going to do things that you care about
- that's going to change your life also Trump was wildly unpopular he's going to be wildly unpopular again and do you
- remember his campaigning just over two weeks in the past he was Bonkers out
- there you have not seen tons it's not going to get better over the next two years before the midterms no he's going
- to lose his he is losing his coherence uh and he's losing whatever was left of
- 32:03
- his mind uh and so the the question I think it's a legitimate question it's not going to be right now but the 25th
- Amendment will probably be invoked if he doesn't croak uh and that means JD Vance
- becomes president I know do you think Elon is going to be trying fight him for it somehow Elon is not an American
- citizen I'm aware and so unless you unless you change the Constitution but
- how much is he going to amend the Constitution he is not going to be president or vice president but it'll be
- interesting to see how JD Cozy's up to him or vice versa um so I want to play a
- clip I'm sorry oh no but am I that sorry no let's do it um but so this is let's
- think how quick that these people have been appointed right I mean in 10 days not appointed forgive me have been
- nominated or called upon I mean so fast and so but we have to wait until at
- least January 20 when Trump is sworn in right for him to do things but
- 33:05
- you there was a cabinet announcement about you do you remember it was December
- 11th 1992 yes can we watch the clip and see it please it'll give me joy it'll give
- us joy well modesty aside I have assumed for months that I was on Bill Clinton's
- short list you can step up on that there is a step oh there is a step
- [Applause] here Donnie you were on the short list [Laughter]
- too uh seriously I'm deeply honored uh that President Clinton has
- chosen me to uh be Secretary of Labor
- and I'm excited about this job because there is the possibility of working with
- a president who understands the importance of investing in people as a means of achieving
- 34:00
- economic growth who understands and knows that the only way we can achieve in this country a higher standard of
- living is if we as workers are productive or more productive every one
- of us every single one of us more productive and that requires training it requires education it requires our
- capacity to work together effectively at work on the job Bill Clinton is
- dedicated to ensuring that the the American Workforce is second to
- none and I am proud to be a member of his
- team it's going to take some dislocations for my family my wife Claire and and also my two boys Adam and
- Sam two young boys they're not so happy about the move to Washington but I'm proud to announce that after a couple of
- days of intense collective bargaining under the National Labor Relations Act
- they have finally consented thank
- 35:01
- you whoa wow Blast from the Past for you how would how does that make you feel
- old really really it seems it seems a long long time ago but you did you cared
- about working people you were excited uh I was excited well there's a
- rush I mean at the start of administration I don't I can't even imagine what it is in marago
- uh but um there was a feeling at the beginning of the Clinton Administration that a new day
- had dawned yeah uh you know the we had finished with Ronald Reagan and finished with uh George HW Bush uh and it felt uh
- I think we convinced ourselves it was like John F Kennedy coming back right right and you talked about worker
- productivity but part of the problem is is we know that we are more productive
- but the gains are not going the the people the average worker who's being productive is not seeing the loop come
- 36:01
- back to them it's going to the top and it's going to CEO pay and there's so many examples every day in the news of
- this right exact exactly and I can't tell you Heather uh how many meetings I
- was in as Secretary of Labor uh when decisions were being made that I felt
- were going to be hurting average working people uh and I would be saying the same
- thing over and over again you know you can't do this this is unfair fair this is unwise politically this is bad uh I
- and I would say to the president and I was you know one of the few people in fact I was short enough I could actually
- get into his limo and sit on the jump seat opposite him nobody else could get
- nobody else could sit there and I'd run and I'd find when he was leaving and I get into limo and say that's right he go
- oh and I'd say and i' call him bill just when we were together because I knew him
- uh we can't this is a bad idea this is going to hurt people uh I know you're
- 37:02
- you know economists and Bob Rubin and other people want it uh and sometimes I won but too many times I lost right but
- you said something those conversations aren't going to be happening in today's situation no they will not be happening
- there will not be people running into Donald Trump's limo and saying to him Mr
- President you should not be doing this no I'm flagging something for you and I mean it and there's data behind it and
- we need to look at it no uh and that's one of the I I think most frightening
- aspects I mean Donald it's it's frightening that Donald Trump is there it's frightening that he's losing his mind it's frightening that he's U has no
- principles uh to begin with uh except the accumulation of power and money U
- and it's frightening that he's putting all of these these clowns or he wants to put these clouds in place uh but it's
- also frightening that he uh is not capable of listening to anybody who
- advises him not to do something right well more is going to be happening
- 38:05
- more is going to be happening uh but on that upbeat note on that upbeat note I
- wish we we we could we could be uh more positive I can't be right now I know I
- really can't be uh and I I understand you know a lot of you also uh you know
- all I mean it's it feels what's it two and a half weeks two and a half weeks that's all it's been uh but please uh
- have the courage of your conviction uh don't despair uh we will eventually
- succeed uh don't give up hope uh and we'll see
- you next week [Music]
