Dear Peter! What a very sad time and war in the Ukraine โ€ฆ - I wrote a poem last Friday and hope you like it possibly by a like and / or comment. Why I do I show this to you? I want to spread optimism and good vibes in these crazy times.. ๏Š It is a moving and important time and I have tried here to speak for all, not only the people from Ukraine, but also Russia. I told my son not to sing or blame others at school Russia is stupid or Russia is bad

At the school or elsewhere are children such as from Russia and Ukraine as innocent as one can be

In our whole world itโ€™s not the children nor all Russians that are acting in injustice but rather the government almost brainwashing their people with empire fantasies ligitimating war and brutality and giving insane inhuman directions

A red line has been crossed maybe already some time before but appeasement is not a solution as it only extends the greed for more power

Whatever has led to this crisis using pure force and warfare to invade an innocent country and killing ruthlessly to reach goals is far beyond humanity and any kind of love

When diplomacy appears not in sight and true compromises appear not to be reachable the only options are to sacrifice oneโ€™s own freedom or to withstand against the aggression

Not only the strongest will win a battle but also the ones with dignity and humanity who reach the hearts and souls of all people emotionally involved

It will need strong endurance and time, determination and motivation and a clear standpoint with decisiveness to withstand the aggression in unity

We need fields of flowers to prosper with sunrays all over the skies to enlighten our earth for a better world with true respect and collaboration

Solidarity with action for Ukraine to win the battle of defense and hearts Sorrow for the Russian people who support the Ukraine and the ones who are forced and manipulated into this war without their true approval

May all have the clarity and strength to do what has to be done to change this earth for a better world

Thanks for sharing your poem.

I was born in the early days of WWII and my family lived in a near suburb of London. I never understood that people got injured and killed, but knew about the damage to buildings. With the invasion of Ukraine I am reliving my very young life and getting surprisingly stressed by it. I have not thought about my experiences in WWII in many decades, but now I think about it every day. The spirit of the Ukrainians led by Zelensky is impressive ... and reminds me to some extent with the spirit of the British led by Churchill in the early days of WWII.

Thanks PeterB

Thank you very much Peter for your very inspiring and inspirating answer. Yes, I can imagine this very well and in a way I thing it is also good, that you relive some of your old memories. My father was born in 1034, so he remembers the war as y younger child also quite well. People from this time I often heard, react to the explosions on NEW Years Eve quite differently as for example as me... :)

If you like, you could copy paste your very valuable comment into the main comment section, because I think it will definitely be also valuable to other readers, what do you think?

Warm regards from Frankfurt, Marcus

Dear Marcus

Thanks for your observations ... it is amazing how the human animal functions, and indeed all of nature. I have lived some 60+ years as an adult, and have a certain amount of experiential learning which informs me in all sorts of ways that are different from a lot of younger folk.

While there is a lot of focus on Russia -v- Ukraine, and the possibility of the war spreading into several countries on the Eastern flank of Europe, I would argue that the grand corruption associated with the oligarchs of Russia, and to a less extent the Ukraine of several years ago also permeate the economies, societies and politics of many other countries, rich and poor. Many of the most successful (i.e. profitable) professional firms have been enablers of the rich and corrupt for decades, and (legally) corrupt politicians have enabled all sorts of behavior that in the aggregate has impoverished society in a way that is obscene. I have done consulting assignments for the World Bank, the UN and others for several decades, and while some people have progressed, there are more people (in absolute numbers) in dire circumstances now than 40 years ago. This is insane. The money wealth of a few is obscene ... and rule of law and playing nice does not seem to work. After Putin and Ukraine, what is next. If it is decided by a system of maximizing profit and financial wealth, it is over ... but if the goals are expanded to the broader dimensions of social progress (quality of life, that is) and environmental sustainability together with reasonable economic returns for owners of wealth, the technical knowledge that now exists has the power and potential to deliver a reasonably better life for everyone.

Apparently you are in Frankfurt. As a young child Germans were the enemy. Over the years in my adult life I have worked with a befriended many Germans who were delightful folk ... and also many years ago during Soviet times I got to meet quite a lot of Russians (mainly at technical engineering meetings) and they also were fun to be with. My work in around 50 different countries has taught me that most people are really nice, albeit different in looks and culture. Sadly, the 'nice' folk don't run the world, and have little decision making power ... and we not only tolerate this, but have been enabling it for all my adult lifetime.

Sorry for my rant ... but we can do better.

Best wishes

PeterB ... from the Poconos of rural Pennsylvania, not far from New York City.

Thank you Peter for your lovely and inspiring thoughts!!

Yes indeed, I think very similar - most people have a good should for society and yet power and greed can corrupt.

whereas George Orwell wrote animal farm, just recently I thought, one could also write a book such as 'animal office' or similar directions.

The train of overpopulation and erosion of nature is in full motion and I don't know if it can be slowed down enough in time, but yet I do hope, that with rising innovative technology and more, there could be a light o grasp within a certain time frame ...

Kind wishes from Frankfurt, Marcus
