Bernie Sanders Had Some Thoughts About How Democrats Are Handling Sinema and Manchin ... And as usual, he’s absolutely correct.
Written by Lauren Elizabeth May 2nd,, 2022 Of all the politicians in Washington D.C., few have been more correct or frankly on the right side of history than Bernie Sanders. As much as they might hate to admit it, his fellow lawmakers like Joe Biden and Chuck Schumer would probably do well to listen to his advice and perspective. At least, if they wanted to be successful they would. Well, Bernie had some thoughts about how the Democratic Party is handling Senators Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin, and as usual he is entirely correct. Juliana Kaplan and Joseph Zeballos-Roig with Insider write: “…In a new interview with Vanity Fair, Sanders again lambasted Manchin and Sinema’s role in killing Build Back Better, saying they “sabotaged our efforts, what we were trying to do.”The points Bernie has made are irrefutable. All one has to do is look at the polling and the prospects for the upcoming midterm elections to see just how grim things are looking for the Democratic Party, and frankly it’s getting pathetic. We don’t even have to wait until elections approach to know that conservative Democrats are going to blame the left for their abysmal failures. There will be countless leaks to the press about how the Democratic party has done “too much”, and the left needs to stop pushing for their policy goals lest it cost purple district Democrats their seats. Interesting, considering as we have been over countless times, the Democratic Party has failed to deliver on nearly every single campaign promise they made in 2020 that helped them to win. Leave it to the Democratic party to blame the left when thanks to Joe Manchin and other conservative Democrats too cowardly to come forward and challenge him, millions of children were plunged back into poverty under the watch of the Democratic Party. I’m sure that has nothing to do with the numbers, right? Bernie is of course correct in saying that the strategy for Democrats to deal with Sinema and Manchin has been an absolute failure, but what he fails to leave out is the fact that Democrats would challenge them if they really wanted to. I mean, look at how they treat the left! They have no problem coalescing against and browbeating progressive lawmakers. Case in point: the way the 2020 election unfolded for Bernie Sanders himself. Democrats don’t challenge Sinema and Manchin because they simply do not want to.
